Strategic and Technical Needs Assessment

Strategic and technical needs assessment can take on a variety of forms depending on an organization’s business and technology strategy and tactical needs, whether known up front or to be decided by the assessment. Frontier provides several approaches to conducting a business or technical assessment, whether it’s to understand the organizational impact of new technology or regulatory requirements, or to inventory and analyze an organization’s software applications and supporting systems. Most assessments involve people, processes, rules and technology, so we try to look at all four dimension when doing the analysis.

To accomplish these, we use a number of  analysis techniques that we also deploy in Frontier’s other services. Since assessments are often highly specialized with esoteric goals, we tailor use of the following techniques in helping us complete a thorough analysis and deliver subsequent recommendations:

  • Business Architecture Modeling
  • Business Entity Modeling
  • Business Process Modeling (current state and future state) – see our 360° Process Completeness Check
  • Context Modeling (organizational, system and others)
  • Four Lenses
  • Gap Analysis
  • Metric Identification and Linkage
  • Migration Analysis and  Planning
  • Organizational Modeling
  • Requirements Capture and Refactoring
  • Risk Analysis
  • SIPOC
  • User Focus Groups
  • Value Chain Modeling
  • Work Practices Analysis
